Ivan Vazquez won in doubles and singles Tuesday to help
Xavier University of Louisiana earn a 5-2 victory against St. Thomas (Fla.)
in men's tennis.
The Gold Rush, ranked 10th in the NAIA coaches poll, are 9-9.
The Bobcats, who were among "others receiving votes" in the most recent poll, are 0-4.
The NAIA will announce new team rankings Wednesday.
Vazquez and
Dedric Ray won 6-3 against
Jakub Federowicz and Julian Miehe, then Suarez and
Jacobi Bain clinched the doubles point
with a 6-3 decision against Oliver Andersson and Moritz Kettner. In singles, Suarez
beat Miehe 6-3, 6-3, and Vazquez defeated Noah Castillo 6-3, 6-1.
Artur Yakubov clinched for the Gold Rush with his 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 victory against Andersson.
Jered Wilson scored XULA's final point with a
6-3, 4-6, 6-1 victory against Kettner.
Next for XULA's men and women
will be the LSUA Tournament at Alexandria, La., April 5-7.
