won individual titles Friday to help Xavier University
of Louisiana men's track and field grab a 124-point lead
in the Red River Athletic Conference Championships at Tad Gormley Stadium.
The XULA men scored
178 points, 68 more than they did on day one of the 2023 RRAC meet.
Huston-Tillotson is second with 54 points, followed by Jarvis Christian with 39, Our Lady of the Lake with 16 and Texas College with 10.
The Gold Rush seek a second RRAC team championship in three years.
The second and final day of the meet will be Saturday —
field events at 10 a.m., track events at noon. Venue address is 5400 Stadium Drive, zip 70124, and admission is free.
Alexander won the triple jump (15.00 meters/49 feet, 2 1/2 inches)
and javelin (42.78 meters/140 feet, 4 inches). Alexander in the triple jump became the first XULA male in the modern era
to win four conference championships in the same event. Alexander also is a two-time NAIA national champion in the triple jump.
George won 10,000-meter run (38 minutes, 36.70 seconds),
Jegede won the discus (PR of 41.32 meters/135 feet, 6 inches), Kelly won the 400 (48.42),
and Madison won the 3,000 (10:28.40).
