Xavier University of Louisiana's
VanDer Woody rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory Thursday against
Jaroslav Majsajdr that clinched XULA's 4-2 men's tennis decision against Our Lady of the Lake in the LSUA Tournament.
The Gold Rush — 10-9
and ranked 10th in the NAIA coaches poll and 13th in the ITA NAIA computerized rankings
— will play Texas Wesleyan at 9 a.m. CDT Friday. The three-day tournament will conclude Saturday.
Dedric Ray and
Jered Wilson also won in singles for XULA. The Gold Rush
got doubles victories from Woody/
Julius Hell and
Jacobi Bain/
Nereo Suarez. Bain and Suarez
clinched the doubles point with their 6-3 victory against Kyllian Savary and David Ekpenyong.
XULA ended the nine-match win streak of the Saints,
who are 12-7, No. 23 in the coaches poll and 17th in the computer rankings. The victory was XULA's
fourth this season against a top-25 opponent.
