ALEXANDRIA, La. —
Xavier University of Louisiana lost 8-1 Friday to LSU-Alexandria in the
opener of a three-game Red River Athletic Conference baseball series.
The Gold Rush (11-16 overall, 5-13 RRAC)
and the Generals (15-15, 12-6) will meet in a noon Saturday doubleheader at Generals Field.
Alex Crews scored
the Gold Rush run — it was unearned — on an infield error
with two out in the sixth inning.
LSUA scored twice in the second inning,
then pulled away with a five-run fourth that included Keagan Garcia's three-run homer.
Crews,
Cohen Boyd,
Zion Morris and
Michael Sonn had two hits apiece for the Gold Rush.
Starting and winning pitcher William Vice
allowed six hits, walked one and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings.
