ALEXANDRIA, La. —
Xavier University of Louisiana defeated Texas Wesleyan 6-1 Friday in men's tennis
at the LSUA Tournament to give
Alan Green his 300th career
victory as head coach of the Gold Rush.
Green's men's teams are 300-189 (.613) in 21 seasons,
including NAIA tournament national runner-up finishes in 2016, 2017 and 2019.
Green reached
300
victories with the XULA women in 2023.
Julius Hell,
Nereo Suarez and
VanDer Woody
won in doubles and singles for XULA (11-9). Hell and Woody won 6-3 against
Marco Salamanca and Jose Pablo Merino to clinch the doubles point. Hell defeated
Pablo Olmedo 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to clinch the match.
Texas Wesleyan (7-4) lost its third straight.
The victory was the season-best third in a row
for the Gold Rush (11-9), ranked 10th in the NAIA coaches poll and 13th in the ITA NAIA computerized team rankings.
XULA will play Texas A&M-Texarkana at 1 p.m. Saturday in its final
tournament match.
