MARION, Ind. —
Xavier University of Louisiana's
Jaheene Bell advanced in the men's 400-meter hurdles Wednesday
of NAIA outdoor track and field nationals.
Bell — a freshman competing in the last of four heats —
was sixth fastest out of 33 hurdlers in 52.97 seconds. Doane's Zach Turner led with 51.58.
Bell will compete in the final at 3:20 p.m. EDT Saturday.
Bell was the only XULA man to compete during
the meet's first day. Competing Thursday for the Gold Rush in preliminary races
will be
Winston Young in the 400
and the 1,600 relay team of Bell,
Daunté Kelly,
Juston Tweh and Young.
Dayton Jamierson and
Damien Trahan will compete in the high jump.
