NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana tied for fifth with Tennessee Wesleyan in the
first NAIA men's tennis coaches poll of the 2024-25 season.
The NAIA announced the rankings Wednesday.
The Gold Rush are in the preseason top 10
for the 14th consecutive season and the preseason top 25 for the 19th consecutive season.
XULA extended its top-25 streak to 138 polls dating to April 4, 2007.
That's the longest active streak in NAIA men's tennis.
The Gold Rush are in the top 10 for the 107th time in the last 111 polls.
Returning players include
Jacobi Bain and
Nereo Suarez, both NAIA All-Americans
last season. Alan Green is in his 22nd season as head coach.
XULA will compete Sept. 19-21 in the HBCU National Championships
at College Park, Ga. — that's an Atlanta suburb — and will play host to
the NAIA Gulf ITA Regional Championships Sept. 27-29 at XULA and City Park. The Gold Rush will play dual matches during the spring semester
and attempt to qualify for NAIA nationals for the 16th consecutive season.
The second of seven NAIA coaches polls in 2024-25
will be announced Feb. 12.
