        NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Manuel Arias and Nereo Suarez defeated one seeded men's doubles team Saturday and will play another Sunday at the NAIA Gulf Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships.
        Arias and Suarez won 8-5 in the quarterfinals against William Carey's fourth-seeded Matt Shearer and Artur Ibragimov at City Park. The Gold Rush team will play Our Lady of the Lake's top-seeded Kyllian Savary and Aymeric Bruno Sunday at XULA Tennis Center. Time is TBA because Savary and Bruno will meet at 9 a.m. in a singles semifinal.
        Arias and Suarez won in the singles round of 16 but were eliminated in the quarterfinals. Arias defeated William Carey's David Bagrinovski 4-6, 6-1, [10-5], then lost 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), [10-4] to Bruno. Suarez beat Dillard's Albert Onichtchenko 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), then lost 6-1, 6-2 to OLLU's third-seeded David Ekpenyong.
        Dedric Ray of the Gold Rush lost 6-2, 6-4 to Dillard's seventh-sseded Yassine Ben Jemaa in the round of 16.
