        JACKSON, Miss. — Xavier University of Louisiana men's tennis standout Jacobi Bain, playing singles Friday for the first time since offseason knee surgery, defeated Jackson State's Maas Schotanus 6-4, 7-5. But the Tigers won the dual match 4-2.
        Also winning in singles for the Gold Rush was Nereo Suarez, who defeated Alejandro Pinilla 6-3, 6-0 on the first court. Ching Chang Chiu clinched on the third court in a 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 6-1 victory against VanDer Woody.
        Jackson State, an NCAA Division I member, is 1-4. The Gold Rush, ranked seventh in the NAIA, are 1-3.
        Next for the Gold Rush will be a 2 p.m. CST Tuesday home match against city rival Loyola at XULA Tennis Center.
