Privateers spoil Gold Rush opener

        NEW ORLEANS — City rival University of New Orleans defeated NAIA No. 5 Xavier University of Louisiana 4-0 in men's tennis Wednesday at UNO.
        It was the first Gold Rush match of the spring semester. The XULA men and women will play host to another city rival, Dillard, at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
        The Privateers (1-1) won the doubles point and singles matches on the first, second and sixth courts. Of the three unfinished singles matches, the Gold Rush led in one — newcomer Tomas Giangrasso held a 3-6, 6-1, 4-3 advantage against Sep de Visser on the fifth court when UNO clinched.
        Matthew Armbruster won in doubles and singles and clinched on the first court when he defeated Nereo Suarez 6-2, 6-4.
