Ivan Vazquez earned his 10th consecutive singles victory to help NAIA No. 8 Xavier University of Louisiana secure a 7-0 men's tennis victory Sunday against Lewis-Clark State.
        It was the fourth consecutive day that the Gold Rush (8-7) played at home. XULA won three of those matches. Overall XULA won four of its last five.
        Vazquez, who hasn't lost in singles since Feb. 14, clinched with his 6-4, 6-3 decision against Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne on the third court.
        Also winning in singles for XULA were
Nereo Suarez, 6-3, 6-0 against Giacomo Moreira at No. 1;
Jacobi Bain, 6-1, 6-0 against Nell Rollin at No. 2;
Artur Yakubov, 7-5, 6-2 against Cesar Coloma at No. 4;
Gabriel Velez, 6-4, 6-3 against Gautam Balakrishnan at No. 5; and
Pedro Maggi, 7-5, 3-6, [10-7] against Juan Pablo Naranjo at No. 6.
        The Gold Rush swept the doubles. Bain and Suarez clinched that point with their 6-1 victory on court one against Pablo Herrera and Moreira. Vazquez and Velez won 6-0 against Balakrishnan and Bonnet de Larbogne on court two, and Maggi and Yakubov won 6-4 against Austin Swing and Naranjo on court three.
        The XULA men won 46 of their last 48 matches at XULA Tennis Center dating to April 2018.
        Lewis-Clark State, which was among "others receiving votes" in the most recent NAIA coaches poll, is 9-10.
       XULA's men and women will travel to Alexandria, La., for the LSUA Tournament, which will begin Thursday.
