Xavier Men's Tennis is officially heading back to Mobile, Alabama, and the NAIA Tennis National Championships.
It was not a surprise that the team was invited, as a season-long top 25 team in both the ITA rankings and NAIA poll, and with a sterling record against ranked opponents, the Gold Rush were an easy choice for an at-large bid.
Tuesday afternoon, the NAIA confirmed the obvious, then announced that XULA, the No. 6 team in the nation, would receive a first-round bye in the tournament, which is scheduled for May 12-16 at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Gold Rush will face the winner of No. 11 Morningside and No. 22 Bethel. That match will take place on Wednesday, May 13, at 9 a.m. Admission to the event is free. For more information about Mobile and the tournament, click here.
