WACO, Texas (April 6, 2026) – The RRAC has selected No.7/No. 1 (ITA) Xavier's (La.) Nereo Suarez as Men's Tennis Player of the Week and No. 6/No. 1 (ITA) Maja Brnic as Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the dates of March 30-April 5. This is the eighth set of weekly winners for the 2026 RRAC tennis season.
 

RRAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week – Nereo Suarez – No. 7/No. 1 (ITA) Xavier (La.)

Senior Nereo Suarez defeated ITA No. 21-ranked Piero Fernandez of No. 4/No. 15 (ITA) Southeastern (Fla.), 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in his only match of the week. The Gold Rush fell to Southeastern 5-2.

Suarez, a native of Sante Fe, Argentina, is ranked sixth in the ITA with a 14-2 record. This is his third player of the week award.

XULA is 12-6 and is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches Top 25 Poll, and No. 3 in the ITA ratings.

RRAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week – Maja Brnic – No. 6/No. 1 (ITA) Xavier (La.)

Senior Maja Brnic led her team to a 5-2 victory over No. 4/No. 3 (ITA) Southeastern. She and partner McKenna Wheatley defeated Allessia Ciampi and Martina Picardi 7-6. Brnic won her singles match against Picardi 6-3, 6-3.

Brnic is ranked eighth in the ITA in singles. She and Wheatley are ranked third in doubles. This is Brnic's second player of the week award.

XULA is 14-5 and is ranked No. 6 in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches Top 25 Poll, and No. 1 in the ITA ratings.
