Gold Rush crack Top 5 in latest ITA national rankings

The NAIA national tournament is still a week-and-a-half away, but XULA Men's Tennis remains at the forefront of the American college tennis scene.

In the latest release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national rankings, the Xavier men's tennis team checked in as the No. 5 team in the nation, up three spots from its previous mark.

Senior Nereo Suarez retained his No. 3 national ranking as a singles player, and was joined for the first time in the top 10 by freshman sensation Christian Sanchez

Sanchez, who plays on the second court for Xavier, is now ranked No. 10, up two spots from the last ranking.

Suarez and Sanchez were also ranked in the national top 5 as a doubles pair. The duo, which is 14-1 on the season, is No. 4 in the NAIA.

Emmanuel Jebutu, the Gold Rush's three-court player for most of the season, was also listed in the national rankings and is currently the No. 73 player in the U.S.
