CLINTON, Miss. — Xavier University of Louisiana produced 13 top-10 finishes
— 12 in individual events — and five team season-best marks Friday at the
Mississippi College Twilight Invitational track and field meet.
One of the bests was 47.65 seconds by XU's women's 400-meter relay team of
Chelsea James,
Destini Thomas,
Alexis Milton and
Clarke Allen — an A-qualifying mark for next month's NAIA National
Championships. It's the fourth consecutive year that the Gold Nuggets qualified for nationals in this event.
The other team season bests were
Dionysia Love's 19:47.07 in the women's 5,000 (fourth place),
Dorian Hill's 16 feet, 7 3/4 inches in the long jump (5.07 meters and 16th place),
Ammiel Williams' 2:04.61 in the men's 800 (22nd place) and
Christopher Kennie's 21-10 in the men's long jump (6.65 meters, 11th place).
Kennie matched his season best.
Other high finishes for Xavier included a fourth by Mailya Vaughan in the women's 1,500 (5:07.72)
and fifths by Thomas in the 100 (12.57) and
Christopher August in the men's 1,500 (4:16.80).
There was no team scoring. Next for Xavier will be the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational at Natchitoches, La., April 9.
