        ROME, Ga. — For the second time in three Sundays, Xavier University of Louisiana's Lailaa Bashir will play in the singles and doubles finals of an Intercollegiate Tennis Association event.
        This time it will be in the ITA Cup. Bashir on Saturday defeated a seeded singles opponent for the second consecutive round, and she and doubles partner Angela Charles-Alfred advanced to that final for the second consecutive year.
        Bashir, a sophomore and unseeded in singles, won 6-4, 6-2 against second-seeded freshman Yalyzaveta Velykorodna of Georgia Gwinnett in the semifinals. Bashir and Charles-Alfred won twice in doubles, including a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 semifinal victory against Keiser's third-seeded Dugleisy Linarez and Joyce Nouws.
        Bashir will play Georgia Gwinnett's top-seeded Maria Genovese in the singles final at 9 a.m. EDT/8 a.m. CDT Sunday. Then at 12:30 p.m. EDT/11:30 a.m. CDT, Bashir and Charles-Alfred, the No. 1 seed in the bracket, will defend their title against second-seeded Genovese amd Eva Siska.
