Brnic, Wheatley named All-Americans, Brnic Rookie of the Year

Senior McKenna Wheatley and freshman Maja Brnic spent most of the year as doubles partners, and on Thursday, the pair remained linked, this time as members of the NAIA All-American team.

Wheatley and Brnic were both named First Team All-Americans. In related news, Brnic earned a major national award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The ITA announced Thursday that Brnic was the 2026 national rookie of the year for the NAIA.

"As one of the most dominant players in the Red River Conference and NAIA as a whole, Brnic has made waves during her first year on campus," the award release reads. "Named the RRAC Freshman of the Year, Brnic is ranked in the Top Ten of both the NAIA Singles and Doubles Rankings. Playing from the top of the lineup in both singles and doubles, Brnic has defeated several of the top players across the NAIA level and has accumulated over 30 wins this season across both singles and doubles."

The full ITA release is available on the organization's website, and the NAIA posted the full All-America team on its website
