THIBODAUX, La. - Three XULA singles players and a doubles pair earned their way into the second day of the ITA Gulf Regional Championships. 

The tournament, which began Friday and is being hosted by Dillard in conjunction with the Thibodaux Regional Wellness Center, features NAIA talent from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. 

Xavier's Maja Brnic, who last week made the Flight A singles semifinals in the HBCU National Championships, drew a first-round bye, then defeated Louisiana Christian's Allysia Sandy in the Round of 16. Brnic will play Ana Gonzalez of Texas A&M Texarkana in the Round of 16. 

Asadah Ma'at, the runner-up in the Flight B bracket of the HBCU National Championships, drew a first-round bye, then defeated Charlotte von Keussler of LSU-Alexandria in the Round of 32. She will play Presha Shanthamoorthi of Loyola-New Orleans in the Round of 16. 

Anais Yakan drew a first-round bye, then defeated LSUA's Valeria Diaz in the Round of 3, and faces Katharina Volkmann of LSUA in the Round of 16. 

In doubles action, Brnic and Ma'at are bound for the quarterfinals, having received a first-round bye, then defeated von Keussler and Akari Uchiyama in the Round of 16. The duo will play Our Lady of the Lake's Carolina Guerrero and Bohdana Bilokon in the next round.

Women's Singles

• Laura Lopez defeated Berta Ladaga Auge in the opening round, then fell to Our Lady of the Lake's Guerrero in the Round of 32.

• Makai Sales lost in the opening round to Kseniya Zhdanok of Texas A&M Texarkana.

• Mia Edwards lost in the opening round to Louisiana Christian's Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez.

• Sydney Green drew a first-round bye and fell to Uchiyama in the Round of 32.

• Sanai LeSure drew a first-round bye and fell to Loyola-New Orleans' Sofia Amodu in the Round of 32. 

Women's Doubles

• Yakan and Edwards lost in the Round of 16 to Katharina Volkmann and Berta Ladaga Auge of LSUA. 

• LeSure and Lopez were defeated in the Round of 16 by LSUA's Silvia Fernández de la Pradilla and Kanu Rajawat.

• Green and Sales fell to Texas A&M Texarkana's Kseniya Zhdanok and Lucia Siddens in the Round of 16. 

The ITA Gulf Regional Championships continue Saturday and will conclude Sunday.
