NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University
of Louisiana's
Ahmad Wilson, who produced a personal best for 8,000 meters this past weekend,
is the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Runner of the Week in men's cross country for Oct. 12-18.
Wilson — a sophomore from New Orleans
and a graduate of Brother Martin High School — finished the 8K course at
the Mississippi College Watson Invitational (Clinton, Miss.) in 29 minutes, 28.6 seconds. Wilson was
more than 3 1/2 minutes faster than his previous best of 33:08.9. He finished 65th out of 107 runners.
This is the GCAC's first week of cross country
awards for the 2020-21 academic year. The award is Wilson's second of his career.
XULA will return to Clinton and Choctaw Trails Course for its next meet of the fall semester,
the GCAC Championships on Nov. 4.
