ALEXANDRIA, La. — Singles victories by
Farah Baklouti
and
Angelica De Vincenzis helped Xavier University of Louisiana defeat LSU-Alexandria
5-0 Saturday in a matchup of ranked NAIA women's tennis teams at the LSUA Tournament.
The Gold Nuggets finished 5-0 in the three-day event,
and their 8-1 overall record is their best start since 2002.
Baklouti clinched the dual with her 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory
on the third court against Patricia Perez. De Vincenzis added the final point
on court four, a 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) victory against Patricia Martinez.
Third-ranked XULA beat 12th-ranked LSUA for the second time in 14 days.
But the first time, when the Gold Nuggets prevailed 4-3 at home, De Vincenzis did not play.
The Gold Nuggets' other victory Saturday was 7-0 against John Brown.
