NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana has the UTR ITA National Player of the Week in NAIA women's tennis again.
     The Gold Nuggets' Angela Charles-Alfred is the recipient for March 2-8 after winning in doubles and singles against NAIA No. 23 Tennessee Wesleyan. The ITA announced the honor Tuesday.
     Charles-Alfred, a junior from Saint-Pierre, Martinique, teamed with last week's national winner, Lailaa Bashir, for a 6-1 victory against TWU's Elisa Piquero and Helena Cabezas Marti. Then Charles-Alfred defeated Piquero 6-0, 6-2. XULA, ranked third in the NAIA, defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 4-0.
     Next for the Gold Nuggets (9-1) will be a Friday home match against Lewis-Clark State and a Saturday visit to NCAA Division I Southern Miss. Both competitions will begin at 2 p.m.
