NEW ORLEANS — Two of the greatest academic institutions
in the universe — Xavier University of Louisiana and Princeton University —
will meet online at noon CDT Thursday (March 26) in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
Top Moments of 2019-20 Bracket Challenge, a fan-voting contest on Twitter and Facebook.
Fans will have 24 hours to vote online for
Angela Charles-Alfred and
Lailaa Bashir,
who on Oct. 20 won XULA's first-ever overall small-college title at the ITA Cup championships
in Rome, Ga. Charles-Alfred and Bashir won 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in the women's doubles
final against Helena Jansen and Emelie Schwarte of Tyler (Texas) Junior College.
Paired against XULA will be Princeton's Brianna Shvets,
who upset Pepperdine's top-ranked Ashley Lahey 6-4, 6-4 Feb. 9 at the ITA National Indoor Championships
in Chicago.

The XULA-Princeton winner will advance to a round-of-16 matchup starting at noon CDT

Charles-Alfred is a junior from Saint-Pierre, Martinique, and Bashir is a freshman
from Jackson, Miss., and a graduate of Jackson Academy. They are the only HBCU entry in the Bracket Challenge.
