NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
leads the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference with 74 student-athletes on the 2019-20
Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The GCAC announced the recipients Wednesday — 346 in all from seven schools.
Honorees posted a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the 2019-20 academic year, were members of an active roster
and achieved sophomore classification.
"We ask a lot of our student-athletes," said
Jason Horn,
XULA's assistant vice president for student affairs/director of athletics and recreation.
"Not only do they have great achievements in the classroom, but they also represent Xavier
in a first-class manner and give back to the community."
Second to XULA was city rival Dillard with 70
honorees. Edward Waters had 56 recipients, followed by Talladega with 52, Philander Smith
with 40, Tougaloo with 37 and Rust with 17.
