NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
in 2019-20 produced 11 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes, XULA's most ever in one academic year.
Qualifiers are nominated by their institution,
must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
The awards were announced Tuesday
during NAIA National Awards Day. XULA's honorees are:

Asha Abiade (competitive cheer) of Chicago (Whitney Young Magnet High School).
•
Samir Chikhaoui (men's tennis) of Lille, France (St. Remi/Eastern Florida State JC).
•
Angelica De Vincenzis (women's tennis) of Montebelluna, Italy (Primo Levi).
•
Adriana Fernandez (women's basketball) of Sont Quirze del Valles, Spain (Institut Sont Quirze del Valles).
•
Anica Gacevic (women's basketball) of Pljevlja, Montenegro (West Oaks Academy).
•
Quiana Harrell (women's track and field) of Marksville, La. (Marksville)
•
Khalil McCoy (men's basketball) of Suwanee, Ga. (Newnan)
•
Hajjia Mohammed (women's cross country) of Olive Branch, Miss. (Center Hill)
•
Yi Chen Pao (women's tennis) of Taichung City, Taiwan (National Shan-Hua).
•
Maya Trench (women's basketball) of Edgard, La. (West St. John)
•
Bria Ward (women's cross country) of Florissant, Mo. (John Burroughs)
Chikhaoui, McCoy, Pao and Trench received the award for the second
consecutive year and second time overall. XULA's previous high for Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes
in one year was eight, set in 2014-15 and equaled in 2018-19.
