NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of
Louisiana volleyball will play this week its second and third home matches of the season;
both have new times and/or venues.
Both home matches — Thursday against
William Carey and Saturday against Jarvis Christian — will be played in the
Convocation Center. The Saturday match is being moved from the original site, the Fitness Center.
The William Carey match will start at 6 p.m.
— it had been erroneously listed as 7 p.m. in some online areas — and in addition to
a venue change, the Jarvis Christian start time was moved up a half-hour to 12:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased for both matches
at
xulatix.com.
Admission is free to students, faculty and staff with a valid XULA ID.
XULA is 4-5 overall and 4-1 in the Red River Athletic
Conference. William Carey is 11-7, 5-2 in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
Jarvis Christian is 3-13, 2-2 RRAC.
XULA statistical leaders through nine matches
include
Kennedy Wade with 79 kills,
Stella Dineva with a .323 hitting percentage,
Semira Blair with 182 assists,
Emi Riglioni with 14 aces,
Linda Mungai with 137 digs
and
Kendall Mack with 38 blocks.
XULA and William Carey split a pair of five-set matches
a year ago, with the visiting team winning each time. XULA and Jarvis Christian will meet
for the first time in this sport.
Venue changes for two RRAC road matches were made this week.
XULA's match Oct. 22 against Southwest (N.M.) and match Oct. 23 against league-leading Our Lady of the Lake were
moved to the DeSoto (Texas) Recreation Center in suburban Dallas. Jarvis Christian was the original host of those matches.
Start time against Southwest was moved up to 11 a.m. on DRC's court 2; the OLLU match will start at noon the next
day on court 1.
