Farah Baklouti,
Kyra Akinnibi and
Valentina Largacha won in doubles and singles to help Xavier University of Louisiana defeat Montreat 4-3 in a matchup of ranked NAIA women's tennis teams Friday.
       Baklouti clinched with a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Sofia Hernandez at No. 4 singles.
       Third-ranked XULA is 2-1, and No. 14 Montreat is 1-1. It was XULA's sixth consecutive victory against a ranked opponent dating to last season.
       Baklouti and Akinnibi clinched the doubles point on court two by defeating Nicole Bueno and Sophia Hernandez Mera 6-2. On court three Largacha — in her XULA debut — and
Angelica De Vincenzis beat Sophia Rojas Osorio and Annika Beckmann 6-0.
       Akinnibi defeated Rojas Osorio 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, and Largacha beat Beckmann 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
       XULA's
Angela Charles-Alfred and
Lailaa Bashir, the top doubles team among small colleges, suffered their first-ever doubles loss to an NAIA opponent. Valerie Quiceno Ibarguen and Stephanie Petit defeated them 6-3. Charles-Alfred and Bashir lost in straight sets in singles. Petit beat Charles-Alfred 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1.
       XULA will return to Canton's BridgeMill Athletic Club Saturday for 1 p.m. EST match against Reinhardt.
