Big Easy Blastoff schedule

        NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana will resume its extended volleyball season Friday when it plays host to Mississippi University for Women and Our Lady of the Lake in the Big Easy Blastoff at the Convocation Center.
        On Friday XULA (3-2) will play MUW (0-0) at 2 p.m. and Our Lady of the Lake (2-1) at 6 p.m. Also that day, OLLU will play MUW at 4 p.m.
        The lone Saturday match, XULA vs. OLLU, will start at noon. Prior to that match XULA will honor seniors Kayla Black, Eva Le Guillou, Vivica Price-Spraggins and Jennifer Torres in a brief ceremony. Black, Le Guillou and Price-Spraggins, all in their fourth season at XULA, led the program to an 83-21 record, plus three consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships and automatic bids to NAIA nationals.
        Torres is in her second season and joined Black, Le Guillou and Price-Spraggins in 2019 to lead XULA to its first-ever victory at NAIA nationals.

        Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NAIA moved its national championship tournament to the spring, and as a result the GCAC pushed back its league schedule to a mid-February start. Traditionally, countable matches for U.S. collegiate women's volleyball teams are played during the fall semester only.
