XULA will play for outright Southern States championship Saturday

        MOBILE, Ala. — Xavier University of Louisiana defeated Blue Mountain 4-0 and NAIA No. 4 William Carey 5-0 to clinch a tie for the Southern States Athletic Conference women's tennis regular-season championship.
        XULA (9-4, 4-0), ranked third nationally, can win the title outright by defeating 13th-ranked Middle Georgia in a 10 a.m. Saturday match, also at Mobile.
        The victory against William Carey was XULA's fifth this season against a ranked opponent.
        Clinching for XULA was Kyra Akinnibi in a 6-1, 6-4 victory against William Carey's Mariana Prieto on court one and Valentina Largacha in a 6-3, 6-2 decision against Blue Mountain's Annabella Natalini on court three.
