LAFAYETTE, La. — Xavier University of Louisiana, in its first outdoor track and field meet of the season, got top-20 performances Friday from Kynnedy Turner and
Lewis Wilson at the Louisiana Classics.
Turner — a freshman and an NAIA indoor nationals competitor in the 60-meter dash two weeks ago — ran 200 meters in 25.18 seconds to finish 15th out of 50 runners. Wilson was 19th out of 29 in the men's discus with a mark of 35.77 meters/117 feet, 4 inches.
Six of XULA's seven entries produced marks.
The two-day meet will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday. XULA's women will compete in the long jump (10 a.m.), shot put (10 a.m.), triple jump (2 p.m.), 100 hurdles (3 p.m.) and 100 (3:55 p.m.); the men will compete in the long jump (11:30 a.m.), shot put (1 p.m.), high jump (2:30 p.m.), triple jump (2:30 p.m.), 100 (4:05 p.m.) and 800 (4:30 p.m.).
