SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Our
Lady of the Lake defeated Xavier University of Louisiana 3-2 and 8-1 Saturday
in a Red River Athletic Conference softball doubleheader.
Joanna Gonzalez's RBI single in the
bottom of the seventh inning won the opener, and the Saints scored seven
runs in the first two innings of the second game.
Mecolett Bradley drove in both XULA
runs in the first game and doubled in each game. XULA's
Carina Chargois and
OLLU's Cassandra Valdez both pitched four-hitters in the opener.
Shay Angelle had two hits in the
second game for the Gold Nuggets (8-17 overall, 4-4 RRAC). OLLU is 19-8 and 6-4.
XULA will play host to Spring Hill
of NCAA Division II in a 2 p.m. Tuesday doubleheader at Wesley Barrow Stadium's softball facility.
