        GULF SHORES, Ala. — Xavier University of Louisiana softball lost 9-3 to NAIA No. 24 Central Baptist, then 7-3 to Faulkner in the GCI Invitational Saturday.
        The Gold Nuggets (5-13) will play their third and final game in this event at 1:30 p.m. Sunday against Thomas. XULA's next home games will be Friday.
        XULA never led against Central Baptist but led 3-2 through 3 1/2 innings against Faulkner. The Lady Eagles tied the score in the bottom of the fourth inning, then took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth.
        XULA shortstop Tamia Washington had two hits and an RBI in each game. Also collecting RBIs for the Nuggets were Chenai Keyes and Kyla Porche against Central Baptist and Destyn Jones against Faulkner. Washington and Alison Curlin had XULA's only extra-base hits, both doubles.
        XULA and Central Baptist combined for 27 hits, 11 by the Nuggets. Keyes and Alexis Richardson both were 2-for-2 in that game.
