        NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana women's tennis, ranked 13th in the NAIA, closed its regular season Tuesday with a 4-1 loss at NCAA Division I University of New Orleans.
        The Privateers' Mar Gendra and Estelle Vanthier clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory against Tianna Dixon and Valentina Largacha on court three. UNO clinched the dual when Ank Vullings defeated Juliette Finch 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.
        Bailey Whitley earned XULA's point with a default victory at No. 6 singles.
        Kareemah Muhammad and Valaine Clarke, an NAIA regional doubles champion in October, produced one of the XULA highlights when they battled Lina Hohnhold and Salma Abdelrahim to a 4-all score in a match that wasn't completed because of the doubles-point clinch. And at No. 3 singles, Dixon trailed Estelle Vanthier 7-6 (7-5), 2-2 when the Privateers clinched.
        XULA is 12-13 — 0-4 against NCAA Division I opponents — and UNO is 13-8. The Gold Nuggets will play next week at home in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament April 28-30. Seedings and pairings for the six-team event will be announced no later than Tuesday.
