TYLER, Texas —
Xavier University of Louisiana won 17-1 and 12-5 Friday against Texas College
in Red River Athletic Conference softball and set a school record for
consecutive victories with six.
The Gold Nuggets also produced the two highest scoring games in their history.
This is XULA's second season of varsity softball.
Chenai Keyes,
Mecolett Bradley and
Alexis Richardson
each had a pair of multihit games. Keyes finished 6-for-7, hit a pair of doubles in each game and drove in five runs.
Bradley was 5-for-9 with seven runs, three RBIs and two second-game homers.
Richardson was 4-for-8, scored five runs and drove in two.
In the first game
Kyla Porche went 3-for-3 with a homer,
a double, three runs and four RBIs, and
Mekayla Marshall had three RBIs.
Carina Chargois (game one) and
Vivionna Robles
pitched complete-game victories.
XULA is 15-20 overall — the Gold Nuggets won 10 of their last 16 games — and 11-7 in the RRAC.
Texas College is 1-23 and 0-20.
XULA will stay on the road and play Jarvis Christian at
1 p.m. Saturday in an RRAC doubleheader at Hawkins, Texas.
