NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's
Yhann Plummer
was named Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in men's and women's track and field
for 2022 after the Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets won team championships Saturday in the league meet at San Antonio.
The Gold Rush scored 213 points and
won by 45 1/2 points over runner-up Huston-Tillotson. The Gold Nuggets scored 202 points and won by 57 1/2 points
over runner-up Wiley. For XULA it was the first men's conference team championship since 2004
and the fifth consecutive women's title.
XULA joined the RRAC 10 months ago.
Thie is Plummer's fourth season as coach of XULA track and field and cross country.
His assistants this season are
Kaisha Weeks and
Kwame Jackson.
Next for the Rush and Nuggets will be
the Carey Last Chance meet at 10 a.m. May 13 in Hattiesburg, Miss.
