THIBODAUX, La. —
Lejaune George produced Xavier University of Louisiana's fastest four-mile men's cross country time in eight years Saturday at the Nicholls Invitational.
George's time of 22 minutes, 42.37 seconds was the Gold Rush's best at this distance since
Kwame Jackson's school-record 21:21.7 and Christopher August's 22:12.7 at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede on Sept. 17, 2014. George's time is No. 14 on XULA's all-time list at this distance.
George finished 27th out of 59 runners.
XULA's other runners were
Dominick Baptiste (34th place, 23:34.16),
Damoy Boyd (37th, 23:55.62),
Steven Wilson (43rd, 24:35.39) and
Ahmad Wilson (52nd, 26:11.29).
Steven Wilson was a minute faster than he was a year ago in this meet.
Six teams scored, and XULA placed fifth — ahead of NCAA Division I Southeastern Louisiana. The Gold Rush scored 143 points. Incarnate Word won with 18 points and produced the first three finishers, including champion Christopher Daniels (19:55.95).
Next for XULA's men and women will be the LSU Invitational Friday morning at Baton Rouge, La.
