NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of
Louisiana men's soccer will play LSU-Alexandria at home at 3:30 p.m. CDT Friday
in the opening round of the Red River Athletic Conference Championships
presented by Farmers Bank & Trust.
The RRAC announced Sunday the pairings.
The Gold Rush (10-3-2) are the No. 3
seed after scoreless ties Thursday at LSUA and Saturday at Louisiana Christian
dropped XULA from the top of the RRAC standings. The Generals (8-6-3) are the No. 6 seed.
Game venue will be Lafreniere Park in
suburban Metairie, La. Admission will be free. It'll be a doubleheader;
top-seeded XULA will play eighth-seeded Southwest (N.M.) in an RRAC
women's tournament game at 1 p.m.
Eight men's teams and eight women's teams qualified for the RRAC postseason.
All winners this week will advance to Texarkana, Texas, for semifinals and finals next week.
This is XULA's first season of varsity soccer.
The other RRAC men's matchups
are eighth-seeded Texas A&M-Texarkana at top-seeded and defending champion LSU-Shreveport,
seventh-seeded Texas A&M-San Antonio at second-seeded Louisiana Christian
and fifth-seeded Jarvis Christian at fourth-seeded Houston Victoria. The XULA-LSUA winner
would play the LCU-TAMUSA winner in the semifinals.

Goalkeeper
Breno Zanolla has nine shutouts, seven in victories.
Famade Bamba, Jaime Salinas,
Adam Sherwood and Daniel Torrenegra lead LSUA this season with four goals apiece.
