NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana's
Kennedy Wade
was announced Monday as Red River Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week in women's volleyball.
Wade won for the third time this season.
She has won 11 conference weekly awards in her four XULA seasons.
Wade — a 5-foot-9 senior outside hitter from Gainesville, Fla., a graduate of Buchholz High School
and a third-team NAIA All-American last season — hit .444 and
averaged five kills per set in XULA's two-match home sweep of Jarvis Christian.
Wade also contributed five aces, three blocks and 14 digs.
Wade hit .433 Friday and .458 Saturday — the third time in her career and the first time this season
that she hit .400 or higher in consecutive matches.
Her 30 kills are the most in a two-match series by a XULA player since the RRAC started this scheduling format in 2022.
Five from XULA volleyball have won a collective 14 RRAC weekly awards this season.
At least one XULA athlete was cited in nine of the 10 weeks.
Next for XULA — 17-5 overall and the leader
in the RRAC at 14-0 — will be a two-match RRAC series at Our Lady of the Lake
in San Antonio, Texas: 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7 p.m. Thursday. Those are the Gold Nuggets'
final two regular-season matches. One victory against OLLU, which is
13-1 in conference, would clinch for XULA the RRAC regular-season championship.
XULA will play host to the RRAC Tournament
at the Convocation Center Nov. 10-11.
