       NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana, ranked sixth in NAIA women's tennis, encountered a brief morning rain delay before defeating Clark Atlanta 4-0 Friday in the Gold Nuggets' home opener.
       Both XULA teams were to visit Dillard in the afternoon, but those matches were rained out with no makeup date set. Then on Friday evening, XULA head coach Alan Green announced that Saturday home matches against another city rival, would be pushed back to noon Sunday because of the weather.

Valentina Largacha and
McKenna Wheatley won in doubles and singles. Wheatley and
Tianna Dixon clinched the doubles point with their 6-3 victory against Shereese Henry and Jumai Muhammed. Langa ended the competition with her 6-3, 6-0 victory against Kristen Blount at No. 1 singles.
       Langa and Largacha won 6-1 against Shani Idlette and Anaiah Jones. Wheatley defeated Madison Moffatt 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and Largacha beat Kenyon Thompkins 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4.

Yi Chen Pao had match point and a 6-2, 5-3 lead against Gabrielle Blanks at No. 6 when Langa clinched, and Dixon led 6-1, 5-3 against Idlett at No. 3.
       Clark Atlanta, an NCAA Division II team, is 2-1.
