ALEXANDRIA, La. —
Xavier University of Louisiana women's tennis defeated city rival Dillard
and Texas Wesleyan Saturday to finish 3-0 at the LSUA Tournament.
All the Gold Nuggets' victories
in this event were 4-0 decisions.
Valaine Clarke and
Yi Chen Pao
clinched the doubles point on the second court against Dillard and Texas Wesleyan.
They defeated Dillard's Brunella Gomez and Truc Tran 6-3 and Texas Wesleyan's
Ashley Flood and Paula Cepa 6-0.
Clarke clinched against Dillard with her
6-3, 6-0 victory against Gomez on the third singles court. Against Texas Wesleyan,
Juliette Finch clinched at No. 2 singles with her 6-1, 6-2 victory against Carla Arce.
Tianna Dixon won twice in singles
and, with
McKenna Wheatley, twice in doubles.
Valentina Largacha won against Dillard, and
Mbali Langa won against Texas Wesleyan.
The Gold Nuggets, 10-3 and ranked fifth in the NAIA,
have won five straight — four in the last four days — and 10 of their last 11 matches.
