Gold Nuggets split on road with Texas College

        TYLER, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana and Texas College split a Red River Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Saturday. The Gold Nuggets won the first game 2-1 in eight innings, then the Lady Steers won 3-1.
        Vivionna Robles pitched a complete game for XULA (6-12 overall, 2-4 RRAC) in the opener, and Alexis Richardson doubled home Madison Winston in the eighth with the winning run. Richardson drove in both XULA runs, and she and Chenai Keyes had two hits apiece.
        The Gold Nuggets' Mecolett Bradley went 3-for-3 in the second game.
        Texas College, 2-30 overall and 1-27 in the RRAC a year ago, is 11-5 and 1-3.
        Next for XULA: RRAC home doubleheaders against Texas A&M-San Antonio and NAIA No. 7 Our Lady of the Lake at Wesley Barrow Stadium — 1 p.m. CDT Friday against TAMUSA, then 2 p.m. Saturday against OLLU.
