Meet results
LAFAYETTE, La. —
Xavier University of Louisiana's
Blake Harris and
Seth Alexander, All-Americans in the men's triple
jump at NAIA indoor nationals two weeks ago, didn't rest on their laurels Saturday.
Harris and Alexander finished 1-2 in that event at XULA's first
meet of the outdoor season, the Louisiana Classics, and produced A-qualifying marks for
NAIA nationals May 24-26 at Marion, Ind.
Harris won in 14.96 meters/49 feet, 1 inch, and
Alexander was next with 14.68 meters/48 feet, 2 inches. Two weeks earlier, Alexander placed third
and Harris sixth at indoor nationals.
By the end of the day, Harris and Alexander ranked 2-3
on the NAIA's season list. They trailed Florida Memorial's Jaylen Coleman, a winner this weekend at the Hurricane Invitational
in Coral Gables, Fla., with 15.27 meters/50 feet, 1 1/4 inch.
Also producing top-five finishes for XULA
were
Darryan Horton in the women's 400-meter dash (fifth place, 1 minute, 32-hundredths of a second),
Emerald Carter in the women's 400 hurdles (fifth, 1:11.09) and
Colin Rowe in the men's 400 (fifth, 50.32).
