PENSACOLA, Fla. —
Xavier University of Louisiana women's tennis earned its 13th consecutive
victory, a 4-3 decision Friday against NCAA Division II Southern Arkansas.
The streak is the second longest
in the program's history. The 2018 Gold Nuggets won 16 straight.
Mbali Langa and
Yi Chen Pao won
in doubles and singles, and
McKenna Wheatley clinched for XULA with her 6-2, 6-2
victory against Inna Serpukhova on the fifth singles court.
Langa defeated Sarah Roy, No. 65 in the
ITA NCAA Division II singles rankings, 6-3, 6-2 on court one. Pao won 6-0, 7-5 on court six against
Tamiya Lintz.
Langa and
Valentina Largacha won 6-2 against
Kalley Smith and Greta Wallin on the first court, and Pao and
Valaine Clarke clinched
the doubles point on court two with their 6-1 decision against Lena Milosevic and Annika Berrendorf.
XULA is 18-3, and Southern Arkansas is 6-11.
XULA will stay in Pensacola and play another
NCAA D2 opponent, 35th-ranked West Florida, at 10 a.m. CDT Saturday.
