Meet results
HATTIESBURG, Miss. —
Xavier University of Louisiana's
Seth Alexander, an automatic qualifier for NAIA outdoor track-and-field nationals
two weeks ago, went a little bit farther Friday.
Alexander triple jumped a personal-best 15.06 meters/49 feet, 5 inches
to win at the Southern Miss Invitational.
That makes the Gold Rush 2-for-2 in winning the triple jump at
an NCAA Division I meet this outdoor season.
Blake Harris won March 18 at the Louisiana Classics but did not compete Friday.
Alexander did not foul on any of his three jumps. He sandwiched
14.83 meters/48 feet, 8 inches and 15.02 meters/49 feet, 3 1/2 inches around his winning mark.
XULA's other top-three finish was in the women's triple jump —
Zoe Cordova placed third in 10.80 meters/35 feet, 5 1/4 inches.
The second and final day of the meet will start at 10 a.m. CDT Saturday.
