Alexander, Harris earn All-America in triple jump

Results

        BROOKINGS, S.D. — Xavier University of Louisiana's Seth Alexander and Blake Harris earned All-America Saturday in the men's triple jump at NAIA indoor track and field nationals.
        Alexander placed third with 14.87 meters/48 feet, 9 1/2 inches, and Harris was sixth with 14.82 meters/48 feet, 7 1/2 inches. The top eight finishers in each final earned NAIA All-America. A year ago at nationals Alexander was 11th and Harris was 25th.
        The Gold Rush finished with 9.6 points to place 33rd out of 64 men's teams that scored.
        The Gold Rush produced three All-Americans at this meet. Damien Trahan earned that distinction Friday in the high jump.
        XULA's other Saturday competitor was Zoe Cordova in the women's triple jump. Cordova, seeded 36th with a qualifying mark of 11.15 meters/36 feet, 7 inches, placed 34th with 10.13 meters/33 feet, 3 inches.
        XULA's men and women will open their outdoor season March 17-18 in the Louisiana Classics at Lafayette, La. The Red River Athletic Conference Championships will be April 28-29 at San Antonio, Texas, and NAIA nationals will be May 24-26 at Marion, Ind.
