        MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Xavier University of Louisiana's McKenna Wheatley won 6-2, 6-0 Tuesday against Lauren Seemann of St. Thomas (Fla.) to clinch a 4-3 victory in a matchup of NAIA top-10 women's tennis teams.
        The Gold Nuggets, ranked fifth, are 12-5, and the Bobcats, ranked eighth, are 2-5. The NAIA will announce new team rankings Wednesday.
        XULA won four singles matches after losing the doubles point. Mbali Langa defeated Alicia Andres-Rodriguez 6-2, 6-4, Amira Bergaoui beat Isabella Ciancaglini-Ribera 6-2, 6-4, and Kyra Akinnibi defeated Carme Ibanez Navarro 6-2, 6-1. Wheatley's victory gave the Gold Nuggets a 4-1 lead.
        It was the 12th consecutive match that the Gold Nuggets played a top-25 opponent. XULA is 9-5 this season against ranked opponents, 5-3 against teams in the top 10.
        Next for XULA's women and men will be the LSUA Tournament at Alexandria, La., April 5-7.
