RESERVE, La. —
Kyliegh Peebles drove in all the runs, and
Kayla Evans retired the last 13 batters she faced Tuesday to lead Xavier University of Louisiana in a 4-3 Red River Athletic Conference softball second-game victory against Texas A&M-Texarkana at Regala Park.
The Eagles won the opener 6-4.
Next for XULA will be its home finale: a noon Saturday RRAC doubleheader against Louisiana Christian at Regala. Outfielder
Najah Nicholas will be honored during a pregame senior ceremony.
Peebles hit a two-run single in the third inning, then hit a winning double in the fifth that scored
Madison Winston and
Rayne Althaus.
Evans' third-inning throwing error scored Baylee Stautzenberger to give TAMUT 3-0 lead, but the freshman right-hander was perfect thereafter. Winston was stellar defensively in the seventh; she made a diving catch of Cameron Alardin's leadoff shot to right-center.
XULA led 4-3 in the opener after Althaus sacrificed Winston home and Peebles singled home
Calbey Parker and Althaus, but TAMUT won in the seventh on Macey Cutsinger's two-run single and Raylene Zazueta's RBI bunt single.
