        RESERVE, La. — Xavier University of Louisiana softball closed its home schedule Saturday with 8-0 and 7-2 Red River Athletic Conference losses to Louisiana Christian.
        The Gold Nuggets (11-20 overall, 8-14 RRAC) did not score until the sixth inning of the second game, when Amireeya Malveaux's sacrifice fly drove home Amaya Williams, then Calbey Parker's infield single scored Madison Winston.
        Winston was 5-for-7 in the doubleheader to raise her season batting average to .440. Winston produced multiple hits in six of the last seven games.
        Brooke Ross and Miah Broussard pitched complete games for Louisiana Christian (25-18, 13-9), and BreAnna Corkern had a double and two RBIs in each game.
        XULA's only senior, outfielder Najah Nicholas, was honored after the doubleheader.
        XULA will close the regular season next week with RRAC doubleheaders at LSU-Alexandria, Texas College and Jarvis Christian. The top eight RRAC teams will qualify for the conference tournament May 2-5 at LCU in Pineville, La. XULA is eighth and four games ahead of ninth-place Jarvis Christian (3-17 RRAC).
