honors and
story
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana baseball's
Zion Morris and and
Dillon Cousin received Red River Athletic Conference end-of-season awards Thursday evening.
Morris was named to the Gold Glove Team, and Cousin was named to the Champions of Character Team.
Morris, a junior outfielder from Smiths Station, Ala., and a graduate of Phenix City Central High School and Central Alabama Community College, was errorless in 83 chances — 79 putouts and four assists — in 41 games.
Cousin, a senior first baseman from Slidell, La., and a graduate of Northshore High School, was a four-year XULA starter who was second on the team this year with 32 RBIs. Cousin was an opening-day starter when XULA launched its second baseball era Feb. 23, 2021.
Champions of Character Team members are nominated by their head coaches and reflect the five NAIA Champions of Character attributes: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
XULA had no first- or second-team All-RRAC selections. LSU-Shreveport second baseman Vantrel Reed was chosen Player of the Year, and teammate Isaac Rohde earned Pitcher of the Year.
