NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana softball's
Madison Winston and
and
Kyliegh Peebles received Red River Athletic Conference end-of-season awards Friday evening.
Winston was voted first-team All-RRAC by the league's head coaches,
and Peebles was named to the Champions of Character Team.
Winston, a junior outfielder from Opelousas, La.,
and a graduate of Westminster Christian Academy, is hitting a team-leading .419 in 35 games entering
the Gold Nuggets' noon Saturday game against Our Lady of the Lake in the RRAC Tournamentat Lecompte, La.
Winston is XULA's second all-conference player in its three RRAC seasons and the first
since Carina Chargois made the 2022 first team.
Peebles, a freshman outfielder from Colorado Springs, Colo.,
and a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School, is hitting .304 in 19 games. Champions of Character Team members
are nominated by their head coaches and reflect the five NAIA Champions of Character attributes:
integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
LSU-Alexandria shortstop Haley Fontenot was chosen
Player of the Year, and OLLU's Cassandra Valdez earned Pitcher of the Year for the third consecutive season.
