LORMAN, Miss. — Xavier University of Louisiana scored 16 runs in the final four innings Friday to rout Alcorn State 18-9 and gain a split of their softball doubleheader.
Alcorn won the opener 4-3. Alcorn is an NCAA Division I member, and XULA is a longtime NAIA member.
The Gold Nuggets (3-1) will play their home and Red River Athletic Conference opener Saturday — a noon CST doubleheader against Texas College at Regala Park in Reserve, La. The venue is 34 miles west of XULA. Address is 200 Regala Park Road, zip code 70084.
